Harold Vernon Puffer, 85, went to be with the Lord after losing his battle with bladder cancer on Nov. 22, 2014, at Vidant Inpatient Hospice Center in Greenville, N.C.
Harold was born in Canton, N.Y., on Aug. 16, 1929, to the late Vernon and Bernice Puffer. On Sept. 16, 1947 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and on Nov. 16, 1948 he transferred to the new Air Force. Harold retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant on July 1, 1997. He also retired from Civil Service at Eglin Air Force Base. After his retirement he worked at Publix Grocery Store in Mary Esther, Fla., for nine years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Puffer.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Puffer of Winterville, N.C.; two children, Helga Puffer of Buck Eye Lake, Ohio and Russell Puffer of Niceville, Fla.; sister, Evelyn Miller of Locus, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
