Mrs. Jo Anne Auer, age 79, of Murray, Kentucky, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at her home in Hickory Woods Assisted Living in Murray, Kentucky.
Born January 13, 1935 in Cope, South Carolina, Mrs. Auer was a homemaker and retired registered nurse. She graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1955 and practiced nursing in South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Michigan and California providing care in the areas of surgery, trauma, maternity, mental health and long term care across the country.
Jo Anne was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Murray, Kentucky.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas B. Auer of Murray, Kentucky, one son, Philip Auer and wife Susan of Cincinnati, Ohio, two daughters, Amy Erwin and husband Steve of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Audrey Poor Bear of Nashville, Tennessee, four grandchildren, Olivia Porter of Evansville, Indiana, Grace Porter of Murray, Kentucky, Stephanie Erwin of Nashville, Tennessee, and Kaitlin Chesser of Bardstown, Kentucky, one great granddaughter, Anais Walker of Murray, Kentucky, and one brother, James Gray and wife Joann of St. Matthews, South Carolina.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Murray, Kentucky. Burial will follow in the St. John's Episcopal Church Memorial Garden.
