Clayton Aquilla Hill died in his sleep on November 9th, 2014 after an extended illness. He was a colorful and social man born in Robstown, Texas on July 10th, 1933. Mr. Hill was the second child to Virginia Payne Hill and James Aquilla Hill, Jr. He lived most of his life in Alice and Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Hill earned an associate degree from Schreiner College and worked as a young man in radio in the Houston area. He married Beryl Catherine Ashburn of Dallas in 1960 and the couple moved to Alice. They had their only child, Catherine Alice Hill in 1963. Clayton worked at his father's store, Hill's of Alice for several years. He then shifted into public speaking before returning to school where he earned credentials as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. He worked first as a nurse in Alice and then spent the remainder of his working life as a psychiatric and addictions nurse in Corpus Christi.

He had a wide circle of friends and enjoyed traveling. His last international trip was to China with a friend from his days at Schreiner. The trip included a visit to the Great Wall.

He is survived by his daughter Catherine Alice Hill Phillips of Palo Alto, California, her spouse Cheryl Phillips and two grandsons John Ashburn Phillips and Charles Eston Phillips; two nephews Andy Hill and Terrill Isbell; and four nieces Jeane Hill, Ginger Snip, Suzy Dudich and Carolyn Marks.

Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife Beryl in 1985 and his older brother, James Payne Hill who died in 2000.
