William R. “Bill” Adams, age 86, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in Topeka. Bill was born March 7, 1928 in Topeka, the son of Faye Adams and Mary Alice Smith Adams.

Bill married Lois Shelton in 1946. Four children were born to this union. Bill later married Wilma Mae Casto Petesch, November 20, 1976.

He served in the Merchant Marines in World War II. Later retiring after a long career as a painter and carpenter.

Bill was preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. Adams and his step mother, Merle Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Adams of Topeka; three daughters, Mabel (Larry) of Texas, Murel (Steve) of Topeka and Betty (Gary) of Topeka; two step daughters, Rae Ann (Mark) of Las Vegas and Tina (David) of Olathe; a sister, Marian Carr of Seneca; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill’s wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services will be Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery. No flowers are requested. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at davidsonfuneral.com.
