PAUL "SONNY" ACKLEY, age 75, of Alvin, Texas passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his residence. Sonny was born April 12, 1938 in Crockett, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Alvin. He was a man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything. Sonny enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, playing dominoes and attending his grandchildren’s many sporting events over the years, never missing a game.

He worked in the plumbing supply business for 51 years, spending 46 of those years with his extended family at Texas Plumbing Supply, who where a huge part of his life. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Paul W. and Loyce Ackley; son, Charles H. Ackley; sisters, Jo Nell Dann and Joyce Sue Hardee; twin sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Don Hamby; brother, Danny Ackley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Louise Gray; and brother-in-law, Thomas H. Gray.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Laura Gray Ackley; son, Glenn Ray Ackley of Alvin; daughter, Jackie Hoover and husband Charlie of Dickinson, Texas; grandchildren/great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alicia and Tatum Ackley of Alvin; Charles, Kelley and Kaden Ackley of Alvin; Heather, David and Karlie Dortsen and Ayden Kainer of Alvin; Michelle, Wade and Colton Schronk of Alvin; Jacob Ackley of Alvin; brother-in-law, Raymond Gray and wife Delores of Alvin; brother-in-law, Vernon Gray and wife Nellie of Alvin; brother-in-law, Jimmy Dann of Jewitt, Texas; brother-in-law, Joe Hardee of Crockett, Texas; very special sister-in-law, Janice Gray of Alvin; and special friends, Michelle Nguyen, Steve McMullen, Kim Snider and Carol Barham, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Honorary pallbearers: Employees of Texas Plumbing Supply (Past and Present), Paul Rhodes, Larry George, John Davidson, Mike Alana, Chuck Dean and Keith Willingham.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Scott Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Scott Funeral Home, with Pastor and special friend Kenny Carter officiating.
