Dorothy, was the hub of her family. She was a true caretaker at heart and took care of "everyone"! She gave tirelessly and selflessly of herself and instilled the good in each of us. She took care of her parents and in-laws, shuttled people back and forth to Temple for doctors appointments and groceries, and babysat with her grand-children. She was an avid seamstress, enjoyed crocheting and making quilts for her loved ones and was a wonderful cook.
She developed debilitating arthritis which deformed her hands and feet but she never gave up and kept "going". Medications taken over the years for her arthritis damaged her organs and she developed cirrhosis of the liver as a result. She spent the last 3 months of her life in the hospital battling this horrible disease always determined that she was "coming home".
She died on Halloween night, Saturday, 31 Oct 1998 at the Santa Fe Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Survivors are her husband, Edward A. Smith of Rogers; three daughters, one brother, two sisters, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Rogers - Services for Dorothy L. Smith, 69, of Rogers were held at the Sheffield Funeral Home in Rogers. Burial was in the "old" Rogers Cemetery in the Hendrick plot located in the far left corner next to her parents.
