Battalion Fire Chief Leo E. Gorman, 59, of Providence, and father of Lt. James G. Gorman, USN special service officer at the Naval Base here, died of a heart attack yesterday at his home on 411 Plain St. in Providence.

He was a World War I veteran and had been a member of the Providence fire department since 1923.
