Norma Jo Lockhart Michael Rogers, 84, of Wagoner, Okla., won her brief battle against cancer Dec. 8, 2014, when she was perfectly healed in heaven. Born April 23, 1930, in Seminole, Okla., she was one of 11 children born to the late Oscar Edgar Lockhart and Minnie Schramm Lockhart. She was preceded in death by three sisters, five brothers and a daughter-in-law.

She will be missed terribly by her husband, William Rogers of Wagoner; her sisters, Loretta Orr and Shirley Messick and husband Ronnie; her children, Raye Morgan and husband John of Hartford, Kaye Smith and husband Jim of Cabot, David Michael and wife Dana of Greenwood and Robin Fulton and husband Lyle of Broken Arrow, Okla., and two stepdaughters, Melanie Riffle and husband Gary and Connie DelaCruz and husband Pete. She had eight grandchildren, Mandy, John Marc, Scott, Daniel, Rachel, Julie, Kasi and Josh; and 10 great-grandchildren who will miss their JoJo. We will celebrate her life for years to come with hundreds of wonderful memories.

After graduating from Hartford High School in 1948, Norma married John William “Bill” Michael the following year and raised four children. They were happily married for 42 years until Bill lost his battle with cancer in 1991. During this time, Norma was very active in the community of Hartford. She was mayor for several years, a member of the volunteer fire department, an active member of First Baptist Church and a business owner.

In 1993, Norma married William “Bill” Rogers and they moved to Wagoner to retire on Lake Fort Gibson. During her retirement years, Norma’s passion was working in her flower garden. She also enjoyed reading, writing poetry, crocheting and quilting. She was an active member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at Hartford Memorial Cemetery in Hartford on Thursday at 10 a.m under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home. A reception will follow at First Baptist Church, Hartford. A memorial service will be held the same afternoon at Twin Oaks Baptist Church in Wagoner at 3 p.m.
