Early Life: Carla was born June 13, 1931, in Centerfield, Utah, the oldest child of Ferris Wheeler Jackson and Ella Johanna Jensen Jackson Christiansen. The family moved several places due to the Great Depression: Utah, California, Idaho and then back to Utah where her Dad found work at the wax mine in Soldier Summit. They moved to Springville, Utah, when Carla was 11. She always told stories about fishing, hunting and gardening with Grandpa Jackson. She was always involved with school and was an excellent student and active in Pep Club all four years of high school. She sewed her own uniforms as well as most of her clothes. She graduated from Springville High School in 1949.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Carla met Glen (Penny) Robinson in her junior year of high school; they were married March 27, 1950, in Evanston, Wyoming. Glen and Carla made their first home in Springville where they were active in the Elks and Jaycees, both holding numerous offices. Times were difficult during their first years of marriage with Glen having to spend much of his time away from the family, taking jobs where he could find them. In 1960, he was hired at Thiokol and moved to Brigham City while Carla stayed in their home with the kids until the job became permanent in 1961, when they were all reunited. Following their move to Brigham City, she worked many years at Safeway in the bakery where she became a talented cake decorator before moving to the position of cashier until her retirement. In her spare time, she was an accomplished seamstress, gardener and decorator. Her home and yard were always beautiful. One of her greatest passions was growing roses. She grew test roses for Jackson & Perkins for many years and had the honor of naming several. Carla Marie Jackson Robinson passed away at her home on Sunday, December 7, 2014. She was 83 years old.
