Mr. Burgess was a native of Marshall County, the son of the late Claude and Ina Lou Poarch Burgess. He retired from Teledyne in the maintenance department and was a member of the Hickory Heights Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and David Burgess and a sister, Margaret Gillum. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Flossie Harber Burgess of Lewisburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11:00 am from Hickory Heights Church of Christ with burial to follow at Lone Oak Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will begin on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at London Funeral Home and will continue on Wednesday morning at Hickory Heights from 10 until the funeral hour.
