Larry Paul Atkinson, 68, of Parkersbug, passed away December 7, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 23, 1945 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Daniel Glen Atkinson Sr. and Marion Lucille (Burgy) Atkinson.
Larry was a construction worker and heavy equipment operator. He worked for M&L Water Company and the West Virginia Department of Highways.
Surviving is his wife of 46 years, Georgia Ginger (Whitehair) Atkinson, his children: Georgette Corbin (Austin) and Steven Whitehair both of Montello, WI and foster daughter Ginger Whitehair of Charleston, a nephew, who was like his son, Kevin Whitehair (Brenda) of Parkersburg, three sisters: Velvet Bibbee (Paul) of Fleming, OH, Donna May Atkinson (Eric) of Parkersburg and Sharon Starcher (Ray) of Williamstown and brother, Daniel Atkinson II (Janet) of Williamstown.
He also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Dakota Atkinson, Abbie and Lucky Corbin, Stevie Jenkins, Steven Whitehair II, Larry Whitehair, Christopher and Hunter Carpenter and Conner Whitehair, and two great grandchildren, Liam Jenkins and Khloe Carpenter.
Funeral services will be Wednesday 11 AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Brother Dave Simons and Reverend Randall Fuson officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
