Death Called Howard Couple ~ Mr. and Mrs, David McBeth Died Within Two Days Of Each Other In Brooklyn ~ Double Funeral Here
David McBeth, a life long resident of the town of Howard, and his wife, Nancy McKibben McBeth, died in Brooklyn within the week—Mr. McBeth on Christmas Day and Mrs. McBeth two days later, the cause of death being pneumonia. These worthy old people had gone to New York early in Christmas week to spend the winter with their children, as had been their custom for several years. Both became ill shortly after their arrival, and pneumonia developed, a stroke of apoplexy hastening Mr. McBeth's death. Their bodies were brought here on Tuesday and their funeral were held together in the Presbyterian church on Wednesday afternoon, the pastor, Reverend C. E. Gregory officiating and the burial being in beautiful Nondaga.
David McBeth was born in Howard January 5, 1842, the son of James and Mary Miller McBeth. He married Nancy McKibben, daughter of Andrew and Crissy Woods McKibben, who was born June 27, 1844. Their marriage took place on January 10, 1871, and they would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in a few days. They had spent their entire life in the town of Howard most of it on their farm about a mile and half south of the Turnpike. Their children are Mrs. Clara Coots and Mrs. Marry McChesney of Brooklyn, who have the sympathy of many friends in the double bereavement.
Mrs. McBeth is survived, also, but two brothers, Charles and William H. McKibben, both of Bath and one sister, Mrs. Readman of Greenwood. Both Mr. and Mrs. McBeth were highly esteemed people, kind neighbors, loving and devoted parents and their home was the center of hospitality and cheer.
