A Hardwick man was found dead in his pickup truck Tuesday at noon, the victim of an apparent suicide, said Baldwin County Coroner Mark Godard.
Godard said Paul Earl Mills, 41, of 1730 Marion St., was lying across the front seat of his truck when found by his wife Irene when she returned home for lunch.
Mr. Mills apparently run a vacuum cleaner hose from the truck's exhaust system to the right window, Godard said. He
left the window open just enough to let the hose in and started the truck.
His body was examined at the Baldwin County Hospital by Dr.
James Baugh, who determined the cause of death to be self-
inflicted carbon monoxide poisoning, Godard said.
Mr. Mills was known to have had a depression problem for several months, Godard said.
Godard said he is not sure whether an inquest into Mills death will be held.

Mr. Mills died on Febuary 17th. He was a native of Hancock County but had made his home in Baldwin County most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Sinclair Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Freeman Mills of Milledgeville; a daughter, Karen Mills; a son, Eric Mills; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. John H. McDuffie of Milledgeville, a sister, Nina Bloodworth of Milledgeville; three brothers, Roy Lee Mills, Lamar Mills and J.W. Mills of Milledgeville; a maternal grandmother, Fannie Califf of Milledgeville; a number of nieces and nephews.
Williams Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
