Orpha L. (Hendrickson) Hammond, 97, Waldron, died today at the Waldron Health Care Home.
Born April 4, 1902, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Ben and Ellen (Hamilton) Hendrickson. She married Clyde E. Hammond August 21, 1919, and he preceded her in death August 12, 1972.
Mrs. Hammond was a lifelong Shelby County resident. She and her husband owned the Hammond Grocery Store. She also worked at the Monty Glove Factory for 30 years.
Mrs. Hammond was a member of the Waldron Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Jaleen) Yantiss, Waldron, and Mrs. Doris Schillinger, Long Island, New York; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, two sons and one grandchild.
Services will Friday at the Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Cliff Bunch officiating.
Burial will be in the Van Pelt Cemetery, Noble Township.
