Phyllis Smith Sutton

Las Vegas, NV

Phyllis Smith Sutton age 87, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2014.

She was born on March 13, 1927 in Cedar City, Utah; the daughter of Mitchell Monroe and Iva Slack Smith.

Phyllis worked 25 years as a Clerical Administrative Assistant for the Mountain Bell Telephone Company in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Phyllis treasured the many friendships and memories she experienced there.

In 1984, along with her husband Ray John Sutton, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they enjoyed visiting with family and life-long friends.

She looked forward to the opportunities that brought her closer to nature, especially deer hunting and fishing.

She cherished her collection of Native American, Shirley Temple, and baby dolls.

Her beautiful cross stitch embroidery and crochet work was a gift to many of us who were fortunate enough to receive the needlework she sewed so much love into.

Throughout her life, she promoted the welfare of others through generous donations to numerous causes and charities; favorites included the Disabled American Veterans and American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

She is survived by her daughter
Joyce L. Gaskin and husband Roger D. Gaskin (Albuquerque);

step-daughter Marie Jacobson (Colorado);

and Grandchildren
Ray E. Peter (Nevada),
Tammy A. Peter,
Tonya Gaskin,
Tressa Gaskin,
Sherri Ganzer,
Donovan Gaskin
and Kimberly Gaskin of Albuquerque.

She is also survived by niece Janet Manning McShea who graciously and lovingly cared for her in the later years, sister-in-laws Norene and Shirley Smith, many other nieces and nephews, and her poodle Misty.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents;
husband Ray; companion Denzel Wiseman;
daughter Linda Lee;

sister Ione Manning;
brothers Merl,
