Clifford "Red" E. Dawson, 94, passed away on a Saturday, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility.

He was the son of Frank and Catherine (Kluba) Dawson.

Clifford was raised in Escanaba and Hermansville and attended Hermansville School.

Clifford served in the Army from 1941 during World War II in Ardennes and Rhineland. He earned a Good Conduct Medal, POW Medal, American Defense Service Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, one Service Stripe and six Overseas Service Bars. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

On June 1, 1946, Clifford married Rose Ann Dawson in Escanaba. She preceded him in death on Dec. 25, 2004.

Clifford was employed as an engineer for Mead Paper from 1947 until his retirement in 1982.

He was an avid golfer with a career "hole in one" at the Escanaba Country Club. Clifford enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and woodworking. Clifford and Rose loved dancing and danced on the Lawrence Welk Show.

He was a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church.

Among survivors include a daughter, three sisters, a brother, and many nieces and nephews.
