Born September 30, 1921 in Ged, Louisiana, he was the son of Jesse and Minnie (Blaine) Burton. Virgil was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was very dedicated to God's mission serving as song leader, teacher, deacon and elder in churches where he lived. His smile, kindness and firm handshake will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 64 years Leta Wallis Burton; a daughter Susan Burton; five brothers and one sister.
Virgil leaves behind to cherish his memories, three sons, Ron Burton, Terry and his wife Lucretia Burton, and Jeffrey and wife Ione Burton; a daughter, Lolita and husband Kenny Nalley; and a sister Hazel Wood; 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
