Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. at Plant City Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Hewitt officiating. Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Grubbs is survived by his daughters, Jacqueline (Phillip) Lanier of Opelika and Patricia G. (James) Mc-Clurg of Columbus; his son, Thomas Jackson (Emily) Grubbs Gr. of Anderson, S. C.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Born Oct. 30, 1919 in Alabama, Mr. Grubbs was a World War II veteran, where he served with the 286th Combat Engineers in the U. S. Army in the European Theater of Operations. He also served with the 16th Corps. Mr. Grubbs attended Shawmut School and was a retired employee of Shawmut Mill with 48 years of service. He was a member of Plant City Baptist Church and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3212 and was a 50-year member of Valley Masonic Lodge 516. Mr. Grubbs was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Grubbs; his sons, Charles David and Thomas Monroe Grubbs; and his grandsons, James Mc-Clurg Jr. and David McClurg.
The family received friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour at Plant City Baptist Church.
