Biography


Alons was first elected to the House Of Representatives in 1998. Dwayne is a farmer and retired Iowa Air National Guard Brigadier General. Dwayne was born on October 30, 1946, in Hull, Iowa. His father, Gerrit, was a farmer and his mother, Hattie, was a homemaker. Dwayne has two sisters, Glenda of Hull, and Marcia of Doon.

Dwayne attended the elementary school system in Boyden. He graduated from Boyden-Hull High School in 1964. Following high school, he graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City and received his Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas.

In 1967, Dwayne married Clarice and together they have four children, Kevin, Kyle, Kristin, and Karena. Dwayne and Clarice have 13 grandchildren.

Dwayne and Clarice attend Christ Community Church in Sioux Center where Dwayne served as a Deacon and as an Elder. He is a member of the Farm Bureau, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Cattleman’s Association, Sioux County Pork Producers, Gideons International, American Legion, Kiwanis, and the Iowa Soybean Association

Alons was the Chief of Staff at the Iowa Air National Guard Headquarters. He was responsible for ensuring that units of the Iowa Air National Guard are organized, manned, equipped, trained, and ready to accomplish their assigned state and federal missions. He served as principal advisor to the Assistant Adjutant General on matters pertaining to Guard. Alons' military career began in 1969, when he received a commission through Officer Training School. He provided briefings to local media highlighting the 132nd Fighter Wing Provide Comfort II deployment to Ýncirlik, Turkey. He is a command pilot with more than 3,860 flying hours in the F-4, F-100, A-7, and F-16.[2]

HULL—State Rep. Dwayne Arlan Alons, 68, Hull, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at Sioux Center Health. There will be a memorial service 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at First Reformed Church in Hull. Graveside services will be at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Sheridan Township Cemetery near Boyden, with Gideons circle and military rites, to which all are welcome. There will be a family prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the church. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, with family present 6-8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are with Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Alons had announced in October that he had been diagnosed with renal cancer in the left kidney and would undergo treatments.
