Ben Houston
was born November 27, 1926 in Henderson, TX and passed away on November 28, 2014 the day after his 88th birthday, from Parkinson’s Disease at his residence in Baton Rouge. Ben had a true servant’s heart. He served his Lord Jesus Christ with the beautiful baritone voice God gifted him with.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy and he served his family with all his heart and devotion. After his service in the Navy, he attended Kilgore Jr. College and the University of Texas, where he studied business and voice. Ben is survived by his wife of 59 years and the love of his life, Lucy Houston; two daughters, Kay Brown and husband Brian of Cushing, OK and Amy Miller of Denham Springs, LA; six grandchildren, Shelly Ricci and husband Chris, Bradley Smith, Stephen Smith, Jesse Smith, Mandy Miller, Kaylee Miller; and one great-granddaughter, Bella Ricci. Ben is preceded in death by his beloved dog, Sammy. The family would like to thank the staff at Whealdon Estates and Lifesource Hospice, especially April for her compassionate care in his final weeks.
Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 1817 Jefferson Hwy., on Tues, December 2, 2014 from 10:00 am until service time. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm.
