He was born April 18, 1859, one of ten children of John and Lydia (Baldwin) Rumney of what is now known as "Hale Brook Park," where he spent his early life.
In 1894 he married Minnie E. Beattie of Au Sable Forks, New York, and moved to the farm they still own in Chesterfield, New York, where they spent several years, after which they moved to town, and Mr. Rumney engaged as a carpenter, continuing this occupation until last spring when his health began to fail.
To them three children were born, two dying in infancy.
Mr. Rumney was a prominent and respected citizen and a kind and loving husband and father.
He was survived by his wife; one son, Clarence of Au Sable Forks, New York; one sister, Mrs. William Weston of Au Sable Forks; and two brothers, Orrin of Hale Brook Park and Albert Rumney of Brookfield, Vermont.
His funeral was held from his late residence on Monday, March 19, 1928, at two p.m., Rev. Cubit of Au Sable Forks officiating. Entombment was in the family lot at Clintonville.
