John McClure died at his home in Montour Falls on Thursday,
aged 55 years. He leaves his wife and three children.

Watkins Express November 25, 1897

John McClure, a resident of this village from birth, died yesterday at the age of fifty-five years, after an illness of several months. The funeral will be held at his late residence on Owego street, this village Sunday. Myrtle lodge,. No. 131, F . & A.M; of which order he had been for many years a worthy member will have charge of the funeral. Burial will be in Montour cemetery. Mr. McClure has held several prominent official positions in the village and town in which he resided, and always filled them wHavana Bridge Company as their constructor.
