She was born on May 25, 1924 in Defiance County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward and Glatus (Upp) Kimpel.
Lois was a 1943 graduate of Hicksville High School.
On December 19, 1972, she was united in marriage to Garrett James and he preceded her in death in June, 1981.
Lois had worked at Syncro in Hicksville and was a home healthcare provider. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hicksville. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #223 and VFW Ladies Auxiliary #3360.
Lois is survived by a daughter Diana (Norman) Byers; grandson, Neil Byers; great grandchildren, April and Katelynn Byers, Ty Austin Byers-Lee; sisters in law, Mary Kimpel Higgins, Ruth Kimpel, Joan Kimpel; nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by a grandson, Michael Byers; sister, Maxine Wilson; brothers, Ivan, Lavon, Melvin, Forrest, Vernon, Gordon, Russell, Clair, Kenneth, Floyd; ½ brothers, Paul Miller, Glen Kimpel; ½ sister, Etho McKee.
Graveside services for Lois will be Monday at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, following visitation. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.
Memorials may be made to the Huber Opera House.
