Adrian (Jim) Crum was born on November 9, 1879, in the Netherlands, and passed away at Pella Community Nursing Home on October 21, 1965. He had reached the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 12 days.
He was the son of Guysbert and Jacoba Van Manen Crum and came to America with his parents in 1883. He spent his lifetime as a farmer in the Pella, Sully and Monroe communities.
On February 10, 1904, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Vroom of Pella who passed away on March 22, 1954. To this union a daughter, Evelyn, was born.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were his parents, a brother, Peter, a sister, Anna, Mrs. R.J. Heeren, and a sister who died in the Netherlands at the age of 6 years.
Mr. Crum is survived by his daughter, Evelyn; a brother and three sisters: Bertha, Mrs. Gerrit Wisgerhof of Pella; Jennie, Mrs. Gerrit Van Zante of Prairie City; Herman of Pella; and Cora, Mrs. Elmer Throckmorton of Des Moines.
Mr. Crum received Christ as his personal Saviour and was a member of First Baptist Church of Monroe where he attended as long as he was able.
Services were held at the Pella Garden Chapel Saturday, October 23, with the Rev. Richard Mohr officiating. The organist was Mrs. Dick DeHeus who played "The Love of God" and "Leave it There". Casket bearers were Lester Wisgerhof, Guy Crum, John Throckmorton, Thomas Crum, Roy Vroom, and Floyd Clippinger. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery with Pella Garden Chapel in charge of arrangements.
