When Ervin was 6 years old his folks bought a place on Rock Hill, five miles south of Winner. There he attended Rock Hill School and helped on the farm. In the summer of 1951, Ervin joined the USMC.
During his tour of duty in Korea he was injured from a land mine, resulting in his jaw being wired shut for months, After he was honorably discharges he met and was married to Carol Beck of Witten,, they were parents of three children. In 1969 they adopted Laretta Ironheart DeBolt.
Ervin was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Winner.
Ervin is survived by his children,13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister .
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, brothers Bill, Jim, and infant brother Jack; Sisters Ruthy, Phyllis, and Margret, and grandson Trayvin DeBolt.
