JAMES BOWKER was born c. 1645, in Lancashire, England, possibly in or near Manchester. He appears to have arrived between 1675 and 1680 in Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts Colony. "His farm was laid out on the east of Burnt plain and west of Samuel Bryant's land. His house was near the corner of the field, a few rods west of the house of his late grandson Edmund Bowker. His wife was Mary. His children James, Mary and Lazarus, the two last being baptized in the second Church 1686: also Richard, Edmund and Benjamin."
