Bertha Rongholt, whose birth name was Bertha Elvira Hanson, was born on February 16, 1913 in Sweden and came to America with her parents and older brother when she was about two years old. She was raised on a huge wheat farm near Sidney, Montana. She was the second of twelve children born to her parents who came from Gualov, Sweden.

Bertha remembered milking the cows and tending the horses, chickens, ducks, turkey and pigs. At harvest time she helped her mom by cooking for the farm hands. She went to a little country school and wasn't able to graduate from high school. At the age of sixteen, Bertha met Oren at church and they dated for seven years. In 1936, at the age of 23, Bertha and Oren married in the Lutheran church in Glendive, MT. They had four children, there are 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.

On their journey west they settled in Winthrop, WA where the whole family worked on a "dude ranch." Bertha worked in the laundry and Oren assisted the dudes with the riding of horses. The kids provide the worms for them to go fishing.

In 1948, the Ringholts moved to Juanita and later to Bothell. Oren worked on the Vitulli Vegetable Farm and the kids worked there every summer with various jobs. Oren later got on with the city of Bothell and worked there until he retired. After retirement, he subbed as a custodian for the Bothell School District. Bertha also worked for the Bothell School District as a cook prior to retirement. In 1950 they joined the First Lutheran Church where Bertha was active in Ladies Aid and Oren served as an usher. In 1987, after many health issues, Oren passed away. They enjoyed 51 married years together.

Bertha lived at the North Creek Health & Rehabilitation Center in Bothell the past three years until her death on January 3, 2010. She missed being able to go to church but she was grateful and Jesus was with her every day. She was so grateful for the many cards, flowers, prayers and visits from her family and friends. She loved her family immensely and was the best mom anyone could have. We all rallied around her in the hospital the six days she was there and she acknowledged all of us. She went peacefully into the arms of the Master.
