Dorothy J "Dot" (Parnell) Sawyer was born on November 27, 1928 in Cuba Landing in Humphreys County, Tennessee, the daughter of Thomas Lunsford Parnell (1882-1951) and Annie Lee (Batton) Parnell (1883–1965). {Dot's parents were married on July 31, 1899 in Humphreys County, and Annie Lee Batton's parents were Frederic G Batton (ca 1857– ) and Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Batton (1859–1934).}
Dot was married about 1948 to Dorris Glenn Sawyer Sr (1925-2006), and he was the son of Walter Sawyer ( -1974) and Beulah ( -- ) Sawyer ( -1979).
A resident of Pegram, Tennessee, she was 85 years old and a widow when she passed away on November 24, 2014.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents; her son Dorris "Glenn" Sawyer Jr ( -1992); her husband; an infant brother and infant twin brothers who all died between 1900 and the Apr 1910 census; adult brothers Luther Amurest Parnell (1903–1980), Limon Coy Parnell (1906–1974), Frederick Neely "Fred" Parnell (Mar 1910–1960), Lonzo Johnson Parnell (1915–1998), Lloyd G Parnell (1918–1986), Darce Lunsford Parnell (1920–Apr 2014) and Thomas Lunsford Parnell Jr (1922–Jan 2014) and by her sisters Beatrice W (Parnell) Pace (1912–1984), Bertha Lee (Parnell) Lofton (1916–1999), Vadie Lucille Parnell (1925–1925) and Sadie Louise (Parnell) Little (1925–1998). Survivors included a married daughter, married granddaughter, a great-grandson and two great-granddaughters.
