Funeral service for John Horace Kitchens Sr., age 82, of Moulton, will be Sunday, November 30, 2014, 3 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Scotty Hogan and Rev. Allen Queen officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Kitchens, who died Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at NHC Healthcare of Moulton, was born March 23, 1932, in Morgan County, to John Nelson Kitchens and Mary Privett Kitchens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Gail (Lee) Kitchens, one brother, Robert Kitchens, and one sister, Fannie Mae Daniels. Mr. Kitchens was a lifetime member of Bellview Baptist Church, and retired from 3M Corporation, where he worked in maintenance.
He is survived by two sons, Paul Kitchens (Lea), of Moulton and John Horace "Kit" Kitchens Jr. (Derenda), of Tuscumbia; two daughters, Suzanne Thompson (Ronnie) and Beverly Willingham (Eddie), both of Moulton; two sisters, Addie Lee Wright and Minnie Burt Fairbanks (Dwayne); 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and other family. Deacons of Bellview Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, family respectfully request memorial donations be made to Bellview Baptist Church building fund.
