Funeral for John Nelson Kitchens, 87, of Decatur, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Glasgow and the Rev. Leon Dawson officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Kitchens died Tuesday at Parkway Medical Center Hospital. He was a member of Bellview Baptist Church, was past master of Mount Zion Masonic Lodge 542 and a member of the Mount Zion chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 509.
He is survived by two sons, John Horace Kitchens of Moulton and Robert Dean Kitchens of Trinity; three daughters, Fannie Mae Daniel of Akron, Ohio, Addie Lee Wright of Decatur and Minnie Bert Fairbanks of Falkville; one brother, S.N. Kitchens of Moulton; four sisters, Pearlie Montgomery and Juanita Clark, both of Moulton and Clara Hendrix and Mamie Privett, both of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include Ronald Wright, John Horace Kitchens Jr., Paul Kitchens, Wayne Wright, Donald Wright, Keith Daniel, Robbie Kitchens and John Daniel.

John Kitchens and Mary Privett married February 8, 1920 in Morgan County, Alabama. John Nelson Kitchens was the son of Samuel Kitchens and Minnie Bert Roper Kitchens.
