MALONE - Bernadette Burgess, 86, of 152 Falling Leaf Drive, Malone, died Tuesday, April 27, 1993, at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone, where she had been a patient since April 20.
Born in Malone Dec. 28, 1906, she was the daughter of Adolphus and Matilda (Degon) Lamitie. She attended local schools.During World War II, Mrs. Burgess was employed by the Owen Dimeto Factory in Syracuse, manufacturing aircraft parts. She was married to John A. Burgess April 4, 1942, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Syracuse. He died on Dec. 12, 1979.
Survivors include two stepsons, Rufus Burgess of Syracuse and Carlton Burgess of Rochester; a step-daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Norma) Lamica of Rochester; 28 grandchildren, over 70 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Three step-daughters, Mae Gardner, Beulah LaFave and Velma Henderson, eight brothers, Adolphus Alexander, Francis, Rapheal, Moses, Marshall, Marshall and Ethan Lamitie, and four sisters, Permelia Gordon, Mildred Fish, Matilda Lamitie and Victoria Lamitie, died eariler.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A parish vigil service will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, Malone, with the Rev. Roland Menard officiating.
Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Notre Dame Church.
