Salix, Iowa - Injuries suffered in a fall March 18, 1937 proved fatal Monday, March 26, 1937 to John J. McKenna, 88, a resident of Salix for many years. He died in the home of his son, Edward, where he had been making his home.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock this morning in St Joseph Catholic Church in Salix. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Salix, Iowa.
John Joseph McKenna was born May 12, 1847 in Benton, Layfayette Co., Wisconsin, one of eleven children (nine lived) born to George and Catherine (McGee) McKenna, emigrants from Ireland.
He married Mary Justinea Duchene on Feb 25, 1879 in Shieldsville, Minn. To this union, three children were born. Justinea died Jan. 25, 1924 in Salix, Iowa.
