Sammy Taylor, age 75, of Princeton, Texas passed away after a lengthy illness on November 23, 2014. He was born October 4, 1939 in Verona, Texas to Lester and Cumi (Whitt) Taylor. On July 3, 1958, Sammy married June Marie Tallant in Princeton, Texas. He was an avid baseball and Nascar fan. Sammy was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, June Taylor of Princeton, Texas; daughters, Sherry McGuire and husband Wyatt of Farmersville, Texas, Connie Gilliam and husband Greg of Duke, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Chance Gilliam of Duke, Oklahoma, Maegan McGuire of McKinney, Texas, Macie Gilliam Wallace of Blair, Oklahoma, Tara McGuire of Farmersville, Texas and Madison Gilliam of Duke, Oklahoma; brothers, Johnny Taylor and wife Lynette of Blue Ridge, Texas, Tony Taylor and wife Glenda of Copeville, Texas; sister, Lynelle Willett and husband Robert of Princeton, Texas; a host of nieces and nephews.
Sammy is preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
