Dan B. Sedgwick of Panorama, died on November 19, 2014 in Lacey, WA. He was born October 16, 1918 in Battle Creek, MI., to Lt. Alfred L. and Martha B. Sedgwick. After WWI, the family moved to Washington for The Milwaukee Railroad, living first in Spokane, then Seattle. Mr. Sedgwick went to John Muir Elementary and Franklin High School, two years to Whitman College in Walla Walla, and graduated in 1940 from the University of Washington with a BA degree. Having joined the National Guard in 1939, he entered Federal service in February 1941, with the 205th Coast Artillery, Anti-Aircraft Regiment, stationed for training at Fort Lewis and later in Southern California on tactical sites protecting aircraft manufacturing plants following declaration of war in December. In July 1941, he married Arlene Winter of Downers Grove, IL. After retraining and reassignment he served in the European Theater of Operations as Executive Officer of a mobile automatic weapons unit, the 456th AAA, a separate battalion with varied assignments, including protection of Gen. George Patton's headquarters. In January 1947, he was promoted to Lt. Col. in the Officers' Reserve Corps of the Army of the United States. Following the war, he held varied marketing and management positions with management consulting and manufacturing companies in New York, Tacoma, Chicago, and New Braunfels, TX. He retired as President of Detex Corp. in 1990 and moved to Panorama in 1995. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, in March 2007.
