Donnie was born on February 6, 1937 as a triplet to the late William Robert and Jessie Cooper of Corinth, Mississippi. She grew up on a farm as one of 14 kids, one of the eldest of the 2nd set of children born to her parents. Donnie began working at the very young age of 12 to help support the family at a local truck stop, working nights and weekends during school and all the time during the summers.

After Donnie graduated from Biggersville High School, she went to work at the pants factory until she married and relocated to California where her father and brother lived. She lived in California for nearly 15 years, and it was during this time that she brought her own children into the world, giving birth to four girls and then twin boys. In 1975, several years after the death of her father, Donnie relocated with all 6 of her kids to Tulsa, Oklahoma to continue raising her children on her own. It was at this time that she began her career at Bama Pie.

Donnie retired from Bama Pie after 26 years of service. She worked on the line, as a line leader, and then went into Bama Pie Security. Donnie was also an active member of Parkland Baptist Church in Tulsa where she volunteered in the kitchen, nursery, cleaning crew and anywhere else she was needed until it closed down in 2010.

Donnie dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family describes her as the glue that always held everyone together. Donnie was the type of person that would do anything, for anyone, as long as she was able. She went above and beyond for all of her children and grandchildren, always. She was always the voice of reason when it was needed, and always gave the best advice. She seemed to not only always have an answer for whatever problem you may be having, but it was always a good answer. Donnie may be physically gone from this world, but she will continue to live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, forever.

Donnie is survived by her Brothers; Thomas Cooper of Iuka, Mississippi and Harold Cooper and wife Pat of Corinth, Mississippi; sisters; Mary Ellen Goodman of Missouri, Alice Thrasher Corinth, Mississippi; children; Sandra Kirkpatrick and husband Bill of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Joyce Rower and husband Scott of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Marit Skjerseth of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tina Skjerseth of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tod Skjerseth of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Tim Skjerseth of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
