Mrs. Norma S. Channell Bodkins Poe age 90 years a resident of the Concord Road near Belington, West Virginia, departed this life at her home Saturday evening November 1, 2014. She had been in declining health for the past several months.

Norma was born June 8, 1924 at Brownton, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Andrew Bruce Channell and Mary Lambert Channell. She was twice married, first to Curtis Lee Bodkins who lost his life during WWII and second to Ira William “Buck” Poe who preceded her in death in 1966.

She is survived by two daughters: Corliss Richard of Belington, Phyllis Cross and husband Junior of Belington, one son Delmas Bodkins and wife Lorraine of Belington. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Della Ware of Belington, Mary Poe of Belington, and Sarah Sheilds of East Liverpool Ohio.

Additional survivors include grandchildren; Charlie Ramsey, Teresa Hutzler, Andrea Bodkins Lamb, Curtis Bodkins, Mathew Bodkins, Patricia Cross, Michele Cross Baldwin, Roxanne Cross Hare. Surviving great-grandchildren include; Andrew Ramsey whom she raised, Joshua Ramsey, Tara Fisher, Jared Lamb, Trenton Bodkins, Rylee Bodkins, Xaviar Bodkins, Zaiden Bodkins, Zoe Bodkins, Jacob Foy, Tyler Baldwin, Nathan Baldwin, Carliegh, Baldwin, Alexis Hare and Ryan Hare. Great-great Grandchildren include Landon and Rylee Fisher.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard B. Channell, and Elihu E. Channell, four sisters, Anna Bouncie Browning, Erma Osa Foy, Lena L. Channell, and infant sister Argie Channell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Poe attended the Concord School and graduated from Belington High School with the Class of 1941. She was a lifelong member of the Concord United Methodist Church, and was a home maker will be best remembered as the meat cutter at Poe’s Grocery Store in Belington for many years.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 – 9 pm on Tuesday November 4th, 2014 and again on Wednesday from 8am until 11am the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald Fitzwater and the Rev. James “Oz” Gray officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery near Belington. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Norma S. Channell Bodkins Poe.
