Russell E. Slater, 69, of 2925 N. Mission died Friday, April 3, 1992, at his residence.

Born Dec. 1, 1922, in Peoria to Charles F. and Pearl Phelan Slater, he married Lucille E. Gentry on Jan. 24, 1942, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Ronald H. of Indianapolis; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Linda) Moland of Peoria; two brothers, Robert of Sunnyland and Carlyle; and one sister, Ellen Slater. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

He worked for 28 years at Central Illinois Light Co., retiring in 1982 from its forestry division.

A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, he was a member of Peoria American Legion Post 2. He also was a member of the First Christian Church, where was a deacon, served on the property board, was active in the Friendship Club and was a member and past president of the choir.

Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
