Gladys Bradley Gibbs, age 97, of Old Fort, NC, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Autumn Care of Marion surrounded by her loving family.
Gladys was born October 27, 1917, in Henderson County, NC to the late George Michael Bradley and Maggie Silver Bradley. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Old Fort. Gladys ran a florist out of her home for many years in Old Fort. She then went on to work for Kirksey Funeral Chapel in Old Fort until her retirement at the age of 95. Gladys loved to bowl and was on several different bowling leagues. She also enjoyed researching family trees.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Christopher Gibbs and her daughter, Mary Ellen.
Surviving Gladys are one son, Michael Gibbs and wife, Ann of Mill Spring, NC; three grandsons, Alan Ledbetter and wife, Crystal of Marion, NC Tony Ledbetter and wife, Leslie of Marion, NC and Chris Gibbs and wife, Christy of Marietta, GA; a number of great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Old Fort. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM at the church. A private burial will be held at Shepherd's Memorial Park in Hendersonville, NC.
