Robert Alan Kruck, 43, of Berrien Springs, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at home with his family at his side following a valiant fight with cancer.
Mr. Kruck was born July 30, 1962, in Benton Harbor to Richard and Virginia (Froehlich) Kruck. He was a 1980 graduate of Michigan Lutheran High School and attended Southwestern Michigan College. While employed, he worked as a produce department clerk at Meijer in Benton Harbor until his illness forced his early retirement in 1998.
On Oct. 11, 1986 he married Gina Costanza Ertman Kruck, who survives. Over the years they, along with their children, have enjoyed camping, participating in sporting events, and spending time together as a family. He loved sports of all types and became a rather accomplished cook since his illness. He also loved family birthday parties and reunions and the memories that were made.
In addition to his wife, Gina, he is survived by two sons: Erik and Joshua Kruck, and a daughter, Ashley Kruck, at home; his parents Richard and Virginia Kruck of Sodus; his brother, Kenneth (Janine) Kruck of Sodus; his sister, Karen (Michael) Ott of Sodus; his mother-in-law, Ruth Ann Hirsch of Holland, fathers-in-law, Angelo Costanza of Sodus and James Ertman of Benton Harbor; a sister-in-law, Tina (Pat) Errigard of Seattle, WA; a number of nicces and nephews, including Daniel Kruck, Patrick Allison, and Amanda Ott, all of Sodus. Also surviving are a number of aunts and uncles including Bill (Sue) Kruck of Coloma, Jerry Kruck of St. Joseph, Evelyn (Ron) Keigley of Berrien Springs, Fritz (Jean) Froehlich of Sodus, Robert (Connie) Froehlich of Berrien Center, Vernon (Eunice) Froehlich of Dowagiac, and Helen (Maurice) Vandenburg of Clover, South Carolina.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sodus with Rev. Robert Duelhmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sodus (Township). Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Legacy Family Funeral Services- Matthew R. Purchase Chapel, Berrien Springs and sign the guest book. Because of the tremendous support the family has received over the years, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his memory be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs, Berrien Center Bible Church, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sodus, Hospice at home, Five Pines Ministries, the Greater Berrien Springs Recreation Department, Moms in Touch or Memorial Health Foundation.
