Mary Frances Ball was born in Marietta, Ohio, January 12, 1859 and passed away at the home of her brother Brady S. Ball of Lawrence, Kansas September 23, 1927, at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 23 days.

She moved with her parents to Indiana at an early age and them to a farm near Emporia, Kansas in 1876. In 1878 the family moved to this vicinity where she spent the remaining years of her life until 1921 when she moved to Lawrence with her brother.

At the age of 21 she gave her heart to Christ, and united with the Christian church and was a faithful member until her death.

She was one of the pioneer school teachers of Lyon and Coffey counties.

She leaves to mourn her loss one sister Mrs. Kate Petersen of Denver, Colorado; three brothers, W.A.Ball of Miller, Kansas, W.A.Ball of Lebo and Brady S. Ball of Lawrence; nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in Lincoln cemetery by the side of her parents.
