Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Monica was born October 7, 1921 in Yucca, ND to Joseph and Leokadia (Himmelspach) Bauer.
Monica had numerous jobs on the family farm including helping with haying, shocking, and driving the header box with a team of horses.
Monica went to Bismarck to finish her schooling at St. Mary’s Catholic School where she would graduate.
Monica married John Neigum on June 11, 1946. They farmed near Hazelton, Driscoll, east of Bismarck and Robinson. Monica was active in the Robinson Homemakers Club.
In March of 1965, they sold their farm in Robinson and moved to Bismarck. They had a house built by Monica’s brother, Frank Bauer, on South 13th Street for them & their six children.
After moving to Bismarck, Monica worked at the Holiday Inn on Memorial Highway. She also worked in the laundry dept. at St. Alexius Hospital and Capital City Laundry until she retired in July 1977.
Monica kept very busy with watching her grandchildren and canning items from their huge garden. She enjoyed baking, sewing patch blankets, and doing her puzzle books.
Monica leaves behind her six children; four daughters; Bertha (Leo) Appert and Kathryn (Alan) Feist all from Mandan; and Barbara (Clarence) Olheiser, Paulette (Hal) Lyson; two sons Paul (Gina) Neigum and Leonard Neigum all of Bismarck, 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, her mother & father, five brothers, & four sisters.
The family would like to thank everyone at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.
