He was born April 30, 1927, in LeClaire, Iowa, to Harold and Grace (Ney) Greim. He married Betty Hoult on Oct. 7, 1951, in Monticello, Iowa. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2012.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Scott Greim of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Todd Greim of East Peoria; and two brothers, Jack Greim and Don Greim.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Richard was employed with Illinois Bell and AT&T in Peoria, retiring in 1985 as a toll supervisor.
He was a charter member of Advent Lutheran Church in Morton since 1966, and was a member of Morton Masonic Lodge 352 AF&AM and the Peoria Consistory.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be at 12 noon Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Advent Lutheran Church in Morton, with Pastor Dennis O'Brien officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Ill., at a later date.
Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is handling arrangements.
