There are photos of the original gravestones of Nicholas and his wife in The Hetrick Family 1651 - 1955, by Martha Louise Hetrick, 1955, page 48. See transcription below.

Nicholas seems to have been the son of John Nicholas Hetrick and Anna Catherine Brosius who were both born in Berks County, Pennsylvania.

There are baptismal records for Nicholas' first two children in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. The family arrived in Clover Creek some time before the 1820 census (Woodbury township, Huntingdon County).

The eight children of Nicholas and Christina were:

(1) Mary Magdalene - born September 30, 1800, married Peter Sorrick. Lived in Woodbury township, Blair County.

(2) Michael - born January 22, 1803. Married first to Catherine Acker, then to Maria Whysong. Lived on a farm in the Clover Creek area, five miles south of his father's homestead.

(3) Christina - born April 18, 1805, second wife of Jacob Hess. No children. Buried in Henderson township, Huntingdon County.

(4) Jacob N. - born March 17, 1807. Married first to Elizabeth Focht, then to Barbara Garner. Lived in Henderson township, Huntingdon County.

(5) Samuel - born June 30, 1809, married to Margaret Garner. Lived near Marklesburg, Huntingdon County.

(6) George - born September 27, 1811, married to Magdalena Garner. Lived in Huntingdon and Clarion Counties, and moved to Michigan in 1865.

(7) John - born April 28, 1814, married to Catharine Focht. Lived all their life in Clover Creek (Blair County).

(8) Elizabeth - born October 20, 1816, first wife of Jacob Hess. The death date on her (modern) gravestone (see photo above) seems to be in error, since her sons Martin and William were born in 1842 and 1845.
