Anna was born in Pepin County to George and Frances (Wakefield) Livingston. The family moved to Colburn, Wisconsin, where she lived with her parents and four brothers. Her father died in November of 1906. A year and a half later, her brothers were committed to the State School at Sparta, while Anna stayed in Chippewa County, working as a live-in housekeeper for two farming brothers. On January 25, 1913, she married Frederick W. Adolphi, Jr., with whom she would move to Iowa and have four children: Earl & Pearl (twins), Elizabeth and George. Fred and Anna separated about 1930, then divorced. She married Gene Ward on September 1, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa, then moved to Rock Island, Illinois. In the 1940 census, she and Gene are shown living with her son, Earl and his wife, Estella, in Rock Island. Gene died in 1959. Anna was a member of Memorial Christian Church (Rock Island) and the Hauberg Center Senior Citizens. She lived out her last six years at the Rock Island Convalescent Center and died in 1983. Her grandchildren remember her as a good grandma who enjoyed baking them cookies, crocheting doll clothes and making quilts.
