Kathryn Herley Morrison, 95, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014, at her residence, surrounded by family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Anthony Morrison. Born April 27, 1919, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Suzie Wilkinson Herley. Mrs. Morrison was a retired teacher with Holy Cross Regional Schools, where she served on the faculty for many years. She was a devoted member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.Mrs. Morrison graduated from Holy Cross Academy and was also a graduate of St. Joseph's College in Emmitsburg, Md. She was a former Chairman of the Ladies Charity and was a former Board Member of the Lynchburg Y.W.C.A.Mrs. Morrison is survived by three children, Mary Eleanor Morrison of Burke, Va., Thomas A. Morrison, Jr. of Newark, Del., and John J. "Jack" Morrison and wife, Merrie of Fredericksburg; a sister, Mary Frances Nardone and husband, Henry of Westerly, R.I.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Paul Doyle officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the Rosary Service to be held at 7 p.m.Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Holy Cross Catholic Church.
