Barbara A. Zang, a former Ellicott City resident who had been a medical secretary and an apartment building manager, died Friday at Peaks Care Center & Assisted Living in Longmont, Colo. She was 88.

The daughter of James Mart Saint, a textile worker, and Willie Erma Booth Saint, a registered nurse, Barbara Annette Saint was born and raised in Columbus, Ga., where she graduated from high school.

During World War II, she met her future husband, Joseph Anthony Zang, who was attending the Army's Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Ga., at a USO dance. They were married in 1944.

After the war, they moved to Altoona, Pa., and later moved to Hamilton, where Mr. Zang worked as a furniture salesman.

Mrs. Zang worked as a medical secretary during the 1970s at Stella Maris and also managed a Baltimore apartment building.

Mrs. Zang and her husband, who had been living in Ellicott City, moved to Mesa, Ariz., and in 2008 to Fort Collins, Colo. He died in 2012.

She was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

She had been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main St., Annville, Pa.

Mrs. Zang is survived by her four sons, Joseph Zang of Timonium, Frederick Zang of Towson, Gary Zanghi of Stewartstown, Pa., and Kenneth Zang of Las Cruces, N.M; a daughter, Joyce Nolte of Fort Collins; 21 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
