NOTES FROM RESEARCHERS MARY BETH AND EMILY
"Below is what I have written in the notes for Robert Parsons s/o Robert and Anna Welborn Parsons.
Everything falls into place for him except his age.
I know Robert is mentioned in his father's will and he is almost always mentioned with James.
I think that is because he and James moved on over into Lee County together and were gone by the time their father died.

In a history of Solomon and his brother Robert written by Conrad Parsons, who descends from both, we came across the following information on this Robert.
"He moved to Lee County, VA then to Indiana where he died."

We also found small references to Robert in the book "Incidents & Experiences in the Life of Thomas W. Parsons From 1826 to 1900" written by Thomas W. Parsons and edited by Frank F. Mathias.
This Thomas W. Parsons would be the son of James and Elizabeth Wheeler Parsons, Robert's brother.

"In Nov. 1833 was the great shower of meteors that caused such terror and consternation among the people in this country, and in no part of it worse than in Lee county VA. I well remember the excitement in that section . . . .
My uncle Robert Parsons had married in an adjoining neighborhood and he and his wife were staying at our house. . . . ."

"I had intended to go to Greencastle Ind. [March 1854] but while I was getting matters in shape I received a letter from my Uncle Robert Parsons from Jacksonville, Fountain County, IN. . . . I could not get out to find business, but helped Uncle in his blacksmith's shop. . . . ."

We found a marriage record for a Robert Parsons to a Tabitha Sargent in Lee County, VA.
The marriage took place on the 24th of Feb 1833.

In following this Robert and Tabitha we find that the information for him fits with the family history but his age is the big question.
We have him born around 1795 and as the second child, first son, of Robert and Anna Welborn Parsons.
But all of the census records for this Robert have him born about 1810.
We feel fairly confident that this is Robert and Anna's son but we have no direct source or record to prove it.

Both the family histories say that Robert went into Lee County, VA and then to Indiana.
The records we have found for this Robert and Tabitha show them in all of these places.
The marriage record in 1833 is from Lee County, VA.
The mention of Thomas W. Parsons of his Uncle Robert in Lee County in Nov 1833.
The 1850 census is for Morgan County, KY, where Robert is listed as a Blacksmith, is near the area where Robert's brother James is living at that time.
Living with Robert and Tabitha are her parents Elijah and Elizabeth Sargent.

There is a mention of [1854] going to live with his Uncle Robert in Jacksonville, Fountain County, IN.
We found Robert and Tabitha on the 1860 census in Jacksonville, Fountain County, IN.

Robert is listed as a Wagon Maker and his son Wilbourn is listed as being a Blacksmith Apprentice.
This all fits with Thomas helping his Uncle in the Blacksmith shop.

It then appears as though the family of Robert and Tabitha moved out to Kansas.
They were enumerated on the 1870 census in Ridgeway, Osage County, KS.

No further info.

NOTE

This may be his stone if he was a child. They may have reused the name as was common back then.
