Ethel Marie Cook, 67, of Miami, Okla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami, after a short illness.
Ethel was born July 15, 1947, to Paul Millard and Mura Maxine (Groom) Cook, Sr.
Ethel was a very happy and loving person and touched many lives over the years. She was raised and attended school in Picher, Okla., and later moved to Claremore, Okla., with her parents. They returned to Northeast Oklahoma in 1978. Ethel then resided in Vinita, at the Home of Hope and then at a group home "K House" of Hope housing in Miami, for the past 10 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Baxter Springs, Kan.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents.
Ethel is survived by her brother, Paul M. Cook, Jr. and wife, Alma, of Baxter Springs; a sister, Carolyn Sweeney and husband, Ed, of Quapaw, Okla.; two nephews, Phillip Cook and wife, Stacy, of Carl Junction, Mo., Kenneth Cook and wife, Stephanie, of Quapaw; two nieces, Courtney Sweeney Legore and husband, Joe, of Kissee Mills, Mo., and Ashley Monson and husband, Travis, of Springdale, Ark.; several great- nieces and great-nephews; cousins; and other family; and many friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 17, at 10:30 a.m., at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami. Rev. Wayne Handle and Fr. William F. Sweeney will officiate.
Interment will be in Baxter Springs Cemetery in Baxter Springs.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Cook, Kenneth Cook, Travis Monson, Joe Sweeney Legore, Kyler Cook and Cooper Cook.
The family will receive friends Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, before the service.
