Mary Lou, daughter of the late Dan Rolf and wife Elizabeth, nee Herrmann, was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Krakow. She received her education at St. Gertrude School and St. Francis Borgia High School. She worked for many years at Carmo Shoe Factory, Union. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Mr. Robert Hayes July 17, 1954, and they made their home in Krakow until moving to Washington in 1998. She was a faithful member of St. Gertrude Church, Krakow, and the W.C.U. Mary Lou loved to play pinochle, work in her garden, tend to her flowers, and loved animals, especially dogs.
Mary Lou is survived by one sister, Cecelia Frankenberg, Krakow; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Hayes, in 2005; one brother, Henry "Hank" Rolf; one brother-in-law, Norman Frankenberg; and one sister-in-law, Florence Rolf.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at St. Gertrude Church, Krakow, with the Rev. Bernie Wilkins officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Masses may be said or memorials given to St. Gertrude School or Celtic Hospice.
The family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington.
