After the death of his first wife Winzie, on Nov. 12, 1837 he later married Elizabeth Tyndall Potter on Oct. 14, 1838 in Duplin County, NC. These two women were sisters. They had eight children; Jackson Potter born Oct. 17, 1839, Abner James Potter born Oct. 10, 1841, Jesse Potter born Sep. 30, 1843, Allen Potter born Jan. 1, 1846, William Daniel Potter born Apr. 23, 1848, Cordelia Winford Potter born Jul. 29, 1850, Julia Ann Potter born Oct. 30, 1852 Needham Tyndall Potter born Apr. 7, 1855 (buried here). He was the son of Daniel Potter, Sr. (1770-1831) of LaGrange, Lenoir County, N.C. and Mary Waters Potter (1789-1854). His siblings (children of Daniel Sr. and Mary Waters Potter) were: Bennett Durham Potter (1805-1870), William Lindsey Potter (1807-1877), Elizabeth Potter (1816 - unk.), Beady Potter (1823 - unk.).
